A figurine that I had created years ago fell and broke. As the thin clay on the robe was impractically fragile, it had to be replaced with something nonbreakable. I had never expected that the mixed media technique that I had been experimenting with Kit Watson would become useful.

Started to make a series of Little Buddhas. Following your advices, they now have teeth. Depending on the impression I go after, the feet are shown. The title has "Little Buddha" in it. Various emotions will be expressed, though most of the figures will capture delight or serenity. I am going to experiment with different surface decorating techniques as well.
Here is a preview of my first sagger-fired fellas. The figurines were placed in a ceramic container called "sagger" with combustible materials such as sawdust and leaves. They were then fired in an electric kiln. I am so pleased with the results that I can't wait to sagger-fire 3 more pieces tomorrow. I feel like a kid doing this experiment.
They are for sale on Etsy. If you are looking for some unique gifts, please take a look at : https://www.etsy.com/shop/Tenyoh?ref=seller-platform-mcnav I made 4 more pieces for an upcoming pit-firing event. Next I'll make ceramic containers called saggers to place delicate figurines, in order to minimize the chance of cracks. Unpredictability always follows this kind of firing, but the result outweighs it. Hopefully at least half of them will survive the firing.
In between home renovation projects, I cannot focus on creations. I've decided to make simple pieces, borrowing ideas from ancient masters'. I'm showing here some of their work created with primitive tools thousands of years ago. Oh My, they are fantastic. After pit-firing, hopefully mine will look as good as theirs.
